a lot of people on the "anti-war" left sincerely seem to believe that war is always worse than oppression, that somehow there's always going to be some magical peaceful solution to a boot stomping on a face forever, or that boot-stomping is always preferable to conflict. i reject this.

It can't be a coincidence that every time the "drone striking Russian soldiers is a war crime" discourse flares up, it always coincides with a particularly intense Russian terror bombing campaign

No idea how much it matters but I broadly feel progressive spaces need to move from “anti war” to “anti invasion” / “anti occupation” etc.

“Army bad” is makes a lot of sense if you’re an American protesting the Vietnam war, but it quickly gets weird in 3rd countries calling on victims to disarm.
