I think LED headlights are a good analogy for society.
They're clearly massively too bright. They are solely for the benefit of the user, who gets everything in front of him floodlit for miles—but there is no consideration, no regard, no quarter given, to any other poor sucker on the road.

It's interesting how, on UK radio news this morning covering recent acts of piracy and murder committed by the US military against Venezuela, Venezuela's government was referred to as 'the regime', while America's own unaccountable authoritarianism was 'the administration'.

One day my update will have downloaded.
I like the part where it says "This is a 3 Gb download" and then as it approaches 3 Gb it suddenly expands to 7.
That's hardly a lot these days - my connection's just aggravatingly slow this morning. But, has there ever been an honest progress bar?
