NZ domain name totals grow in 2025
The .nz domain namespace has grown in every month on 2025 so far. Total domains are close to the highest ever even as renewals are lower than historical norms.

Less good: Renewal rates. Around 85% of .nz domains are being renewed before they expire these days. That number used to be closer to, or even higher than, 90%. If this percentage increases even a little bit, future growth will be easier to sustain. (3/4)

Year-on-year growth is usually pretty volatile, and 2023 was especially grim. But the namespace has turned a corner and added 1.0% y-o-y the last two months. If domain names are a sign of confidence (new businesses appearing online, for example), then this is a good sign. (2/4)
