Prime: Hunters easily has the worst bosses. Best bosses is harder to say because that’s where recent games innovate the most. My personal favorite boss roster is Zero Mission, followed by Prime 1. Fusion and Super have great bosses too. Mercury Steam’s boss design really isn’t for me.

I also want to say that obviously I’ve got some negative recency bias but I truly think Sylux might be the worst Metroid antagonist. Anticlimactic nothingburger. All that setup for nothing. Other M’s villain benefits from me not really being able to say who the villain of Other M is.

I don’t hate Prime: Hunters, but most of its richness is in the multiplayer. Single player feels repetitive and empty. Also don’t hate original Metroid but it lacks a lot of QoL features that make some of its inferior sequels more replayable. I do hate Other M

Just beat the game. That was a disaster. Surprisingly fun, but…not good. I think I just like being Samus

They’ll never know how validating it was for me to see that they felt the man they wanted me to be was dead. For so long I’ve felt like I failed to be alive. Now whatever happens next is mine and mine alone. Glad I don’t have to be alone, though.

I carry a profound loneliness with me and have often felt like a monster. It’s because I am. Not the queer woman I’m becoming, but the straight boy they wanted me to be, a collage of other people’s visions, a Frankenstein monster of dead dreams stitched together. No wonder I am this way.

I have no doubt they feel like I rejected them. Once I read the words “it feels like you’ve died” and “we need to grieve,” I knew they weren’t a positive influence in my life, even if I were to detransition tomorrow. They truly believed they brought me into this world for their purpose.

People hyped up Ice Belt and they were right.

Myles really isn’t that bad, not even offensive really. The tone of this feels so not-Metroid that it’s not really a problem. Which is, in and of itself, a much bigger problem

People clown on Samus for going completely nonverbal whenever NPC’s speak but you must understand: she’s just really rude

The desert hub is really bad. As a fan of NieR: Replicant I was open to a not-quite-Zelda empty space but this makes that game feel like Red Dead Redemption 2 lol

Oh fuck Samus’ biker suit is sexy tho

I don’t feel roped into the story nor particularly compelled to follow it. It doesn’t seem like there’s any mystery. I suspect if I don’t understand something, the peanut gallery will explain it to me again. Contrast that with the sacred grounds of the Chozo or Luminoth, even the Reptilicus.

It feels more like an Annapurna puzzle game than a Prime game. Best way I can put it. Myles isn’t as bad as I thought because he’s actually fairly indicative of the game’s larger issues. He’d ruin Prime 1 and 2 and even 3, but here it’s like, well of course you’d be here
