I love the quote so much, and also shared it widely, misattributed to James Baldwin. Jones went by @sonofbaldwin which I think is where the mix up started.
But I missed sharing it as a meme. So, I made myself a new one to share.

Love the painting. Years ago, I stumbled across the original image on good ol' StumbleUpon, which I saved to a folder of animal pics that make me happy. How nice to see it here!

I think about this moment in #Andor a lot these days - Partagaz casts dissent as a disease to be eradicated, dismissing the humanity and intelligence of people who dispute the right of authoritarians to wield power without restraint.

Sometimes I get brief lines from tv shows, movies stuck in my head on a loop.
Last night and this morning, it's Kleya from #Andor, reponding to Val's challenge about what she's done lately for the rebellion.
"I don't have lately. I have always."
Like Cinta, like Luthen: total commitment, 24/7.

I love how in the opening credits for #Andor the star glimmering under the edge the moon (planet?) evolves into the symbol of the rebel alliance

Made me think of this (many things make me think of this these days) from "Andor"

They were out of regular can openers at our local dollar store when I checked yesterday (they are an awful dollar store, very poorly stocked, but the people who work there are very nice) - I was looking for the one like below, because I thought the P-38/51 ones would be too dangerous for kids.

#SistersInLaw, my question was so long I had to screenshot it to get the whole thing in:

I've been thinking about those guys, or rather guys put in that situation, a lot lately. I thought about it the first time I saw the episode, and I have to say, that's a scene that really stuck for me. And along side it, this image of a dispicable, self-satisfied little tyrant.

Sadly, the sentence that precedes the one in the meme is fitting right now too.
"Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--for ever."

I would quibble with the historic use of the police as not protectors of the people, but rather protectors of the ruling class. Still, in some places, and with some officers, they do see themselves as aligned with the people. And the point about who becomes the enemy of the state is correct.

Partagaz's words come back to me:
"Security is an illusion. You want security? Call the Navy. Launch a regiment of troopers. We are healthcare providers. We treat sickness. We identify symptoms. We locate germs whether they arise from within or have come from the outside."

I've been there many times; I painted it as a child. But this is maybe my favorite picture of it:

Remember this.
(and if I didn't know better, I'd have thought this was a quote from Andor. Interesting times....)
