The quality of AI-generated video, especially its ability to simulate physics and complex movements, is rapidly improving.

I want to build this, been thinking about it....
Who's building the Cursor for writing?

I want to practice "vibe writing," just speaking stream of conscious thoughts and AI cleans it all up for me.

Microsoft's own research confirms something that was already pretty obvious: relying on a text generating machine to come up with answers erodes critical thinking, and is a method favoured by those who never liked doing critical thinking in the first place

I enjoyed writing the latest Drafter article. I was perhaps a little wistful as i circled around the idea of meaning, technology and culture - check it out and share your thoughts.

Before you can write well with AI, you need to know how to write well yourself.

Before you can add your own voice to an AI's output, you need to know your own voice.

Before you can check whether AI summarizes a text correctly, you need to know how to read.

There's no AI Literacy without Literacy.

My students struggle finding information online.

Not because info isn’t there.

But because it’s becoming harder and harder to sift through the mountains of information on a single topic.

AI is exacerbating this, in moving us towards a textpocalypse.

While much of my week is spent actually building stuff, my Drafter publication (drafts4life.substack.com) is my outlet for meditating on AI and Writing. My latest post "AI: Atrophied Intuition" is a reminder to nurture our intuition as our tools lead to greater automation in our work.

The comments section on this post has become a real treasure trove.
I wrote about verbal amulets against the spirits of the age. The metaphor was suggested by Robin Sloan some time ago.

Here is one of mine from Simone Weil: “You could not be born at a better time than the present, when we have lost everything.”
