Hello new followers! About me. I'm an old soul in a 43 year old body. I am BAD at social media.

I'm cranky. I'm pedantic. I am unable to suffer fools. I can get mean.

But, I genuinely value everyone, and every perspective. I will no be right about everything; reasonable people can disagree.
My daughter noticed her first "King Charles" head toonie in her allowance on Sunday.

Dated 2024, I buy her allowance coins by the roll, so I guess I've had it for a while. Still, felt "the passing of an age." No more Lizzie on the coins.

@alexandrian.bsky.social I want to buy your book (printed). What way is best for you?

This portrait is of Scotia Toller, the party's hunter, who made a career out of hunting the biggest and baddest monsters she could find.

The NDP should take a long view, and not despair of a Poilievre government. Aim to form the opposition as the only left-leaning party that isn't a cult of personality.

There will be an election after Poilievre is elected. Aim to form government there.

"If you think teaming up with Stalin and Churchill to defeat actual Nazis was the right thing to do in the 1930s, it's weird you won't put aside my political views on other issues, and work with me to achieve... zoning reform."

Canada has a population 25% larger than California; and has about 80% the GDP per capita of Mississippi in $USD.

It wants single payer health care, and strong gun control.

If annexed it would be the single largest player in the Electoral College, and the House.

Annexing Canada is a DNC play.

This is Princess Rose Bernese, from my kid's Pugmire game last year. My kid! We called her "the tin can" because she had an impossibly high Defense score by the end. Also had to emphasize "Princess is your father's nickname for you; not a job."

It's important to be able to receive official messages on a social network. This starter list is official accounts for Toronto agencies and elected politicians.

The Prime Minister of Canada, can't tell the City Council of Toronto what to do about anything... only offer nice bribes to cooperate.

I think there's a new position Doug Ford should set his eyes on... #PMFord!

Our campaign last year had two wizards: Biff, the glass cannon pitbull... and Carmel Labrador. Carmel was played as an academic, who could barely deign to adventure, and mostly wanted to read every book he found. A great character.

Could you please introduce a motion at the next council meeting instructing City of Toronto agencies to set up to send messages on Bluesky?

We need official announcements here too.

I see that @stephaniebowman.bsky.social and @andreahaz.bsky.social at least exist here... but where is Adil Shamji? I'd love to have him on my starter list.

What would it take for Toronto Liberal caucus to be more active on Bluesky?

Your Toronto caucus colleagues, Tom Rakocevic and Jessica Bell, are prolific posters on Twitter. Why aren't they here?

I'd love to add them to my list of elected Toronto officials.

Bigsy Newfoundlander was my favourite character from the campaign for my daughter and friends last year. A friendly giant, he was a Stevedor who went adventuring when his father died in kennel cough outbreak. His weapon was a naginata.

This is another character from the #pugmire campaign I ran in 2023-2024 for my daughter and her friends.

This is Biff Staffordshire, a pitbull from a military family, who had decided to become a wizard after finding a magic staff.

Random thought: is expecting employers to provide health insurance for their employees a legacy of feudalism? You are sworn to the land-owning noble, who in exchange for your fealty, ensures the essentials of life for you?

Suggestion for my American Democratic Party affiliated friends. Have a "policy convention" in late summer of 2026. Get all your candidates together, and spend a week publicly explaining what your legislative priorities will be if elected.

Show the American people that the legislature can be good.

Why it's okay to block me: online-space should be safe space.

If dealing with me makes being here unpleasant for you: (1) I'm sorry, not my intent; (2) there's several million other people here I can chat with instead.

You should feel safe and happy here.

@juliedabrusin.bsky.social Would a liberal federal government step in, as its permitted to do in the constitution, and stop this legislation from being passed a second time "notwithstanding" our charter rights?

Idea for taking down Doug Ford: Recruit Kirsty Duncan (Fed. Minister, MP for his riding) to run against him directly in the provincial election.

Possible downside, it will clearly tie the Fed and Prov liberals together clearly... but that's already being done: Live with it.

Doug is worse.
