I wrote a play over the weekend to make the election of 1824 more engaging. I used slang terms made it funny and tried to show the drama of that election rather than just telling them. My students still complained about it #edusky #teachers #teacherlife

I created a mock congress for my 8th grade students. It took hours to set it up. make the presentation, create each states role playing card and guiding questions.

Quick question. Are any other teachers finding it impossible to allow kids to do group projects or activities?
I’m finding that anything that involves working with others no matter how structured or scaffolded is like pulling teeth to get any real work out of the students.

The State test for 8th grade social studies is pretty difficult but in my second year we helped raise their score by 15%. Really proud of those kids!

Spent the night trying to come up with a good note taking activity on revolutionary war battles with my students. Still not sure if this will work but I guess we will see.

Over the last two weeks I’ve been trying to see if there is a measurable difference in the quality work based on if it was handwritten or typed.
handwritten was so much better. More details, better arguments and support. Yes the handwritten could be sloppy but it was better
