In love with this little game I grabbed from @molomoot.bsky.social at pax unplugged- exactly the sort of worldbuilding game I love! Uses the form factor in a really clever way, beautifully laid out, and really makes me think. #indierpg #ttrpg

Sometimes ya just get the itch to make a paper prototype. I think this siege defense game might have some legs... But will definitely need a lot of testing! #gamedesign #indiegame

Very glad I grabbed this at #paxunplugged this year! Absolutely full of great advice, structure, and inspiration for #ttrpg design.

It is amazing the difference the absolute minimum of layout work does to the experience of reading through this book!

Now I just need to actually go learn Scribus or something...

Just got my copy of Menagerie of Unbearable Things by @thebreadwyrm.bsky.social and wow, this is such an incredible source of inspiration and art for TTRPGs. Just an absolutely inspired piece of work.

Ran Dread for the first time today! Absolutely incredible experience. Setting up the players with rumors about other characters to get them to distrust one another right from the start was so fun!
Sometimes a house is a guy. And his wife is a killer robot.

Cursed one-page RPG idea:
These are the pools you can spend dice from to do stuff. Spend "spoons" as wild.
Have a list of comfort activities that can refill pools or spoons.
Earn extra resources by doing embarrassing stuff when one of your pools is empty.
Would be tough to build respectfully...

So excited to share the cover art for Far Lands!
Far lands is a collaborative worldbuilding, map-making, and exploration game about a team of explorers venturing into an uncharted land. Let's see what lies beyond the edge of the map!

Oh! If you like Illimat, check out Hoki! It's a solo legacy game with some similar occult vibes that I've been really enjoying since I grabbed a copy at Pax

A selection of my collection! Mostly pewter haha. The two dice is a single ocus-- that's my personal one.

The Bullet-Dodger

Mocking up an idea for a little combat game that uses some ideas stolen from Diceomancer. This guy gets harder and harder to hit with guns the lower health he gets and the more of his allies you take down (demons gain Blood when their allies die)

@lingthusiasm.bsky.social have y'all done an episode on poetic feet and meters? I couldn't find one haha. Was thinking about words that have multiple pronunciations with different numbers of syllables and their use in poetry. Could be a fun topic!

Love the podcast!

Noodling around with a game about defending a walled city from a siege. I really like this shape for a modular city: lake in the center, 6 city districts, 6 outskirts districts. River districts have to match with the river or ocean outskirts. Enemies come from the edges like space invaders.

Doing a revision of some of the poetic text in Far Lands and discovered that the names of tristllable feet are incredible

"illegal" tile placements introduce crystal flaws or alternative tilings. If you place them right you can even turn it into a hexagonal tiling (just with each hexagon split in two)!

These shapes got me acting strange.

And it can be beautifully asymmetrical as well!
February 18, 2025 at 9:53 PM
The fully symmetrical configurations.

Unfortunately, I think the point might be too narrow to be sturdy in cardboard if I wanted to make a tile placement game out of this unless it was rounded... Which could work, but changes the aesthetic a lot.

Makes some *very* cool shapes!

Pentagons! Exploring weird tilings and fell in love with this one. Going to be experimenting with it a bit, see if I can come up with anything.
February 18, 2025 at 9:42 PM
There are a lot of really cool pentagonal tiling out there! I'm a big fan of this one myself: 7-fold rotational symmetry with pentagonal tiles.

Far Lands map!
We traveled through the ruins of a city destroyed in some mysterious apocalypse. We made camp in an intact diner sheltered by an overpass, explored a system of suburban canals, and rescued a survivor trapped inside a giant salt crystal.
This was a shorter one, but very atmospheric
