Meet Shakira. Ten years ago, she was living in a shelter with her three kids, working at a non-union hotel.

Now she's a member of HTC.

Unions are how working people can build a dignified life. But in a city as expensive as ours, they need local government on their side.

A deadly shooting at the CDC shook its scientists. Now they want answers from RFK Jr.
CDC Director Susan Monarez convened an online all-hands meeting of the agency division that focuses on vaccines, and employees called out Kennedy’s rhetoric specifically.

A government-sanctioned "truth arbiter" will soon arrive at CBS. Their role will be to ensure that journalists do not criticize this Administration or express views that conflict with its agenda.

This is a betrayal—not just of journalistic independence, but of the public trust. 🧵

Wow so you’re telling me everyone who cheered on the Iraq war is on board with this now too? And so are the people who opposed the Iran nuclear deal and killed it?

You’re kidding.

The Obama administration is certainly sidestepping the controversial law known as the War Powers Act, but in doing so he’s following a well-worn path.

IMPACT: Reporting by @ctmirror.org and ProPublica found that a Connecticut law allows towed cars to be sold in 15 days, one of the shortest windows in the nation.

The Connecticut legislature just passed a bill that will make it easier for drivers to reclaim their vehicles.

Racial persecution?

In 1913, South Africa passed the Natives Land Act, which forbid Black people from owning or leasing land in white areas. The act designated just 7 percent of farmland for Black people. 93 percent went to white people.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt talks about white South African refugees that are coming to the United States next week:

"This group in South Africa has faced racial persecution."
