The next lesson is the extent that people (not just bad managers) will go through to maintain the status quo, even when it's painfully obvious to everyone that the status quo is not working to the company's or worker's benefit.

The majority of places where the "startup" culture works includes giving the decision making to the people actually doing the work.

That would render obsolete so many positions in government that it will never happen.
