I visited. Brazil for the first time in around 10 years last month. I’d forgotten how you buy a few slices of cheese or ham, and it’s on a polystyrene base wrapped in loads of cling film.

Barnett had no children, and nor did his three sisters, the eldest of whom I met as a child. My siblings, cousins and I are his closest surviving relatives.
My grandfather marched every year at the Cenotaph. He was born in Russia (Vilnius?) and arrived in London as a baby.
