I learned something new about bluebonnets today. As a flower runs out of pollen, the white stripe turns purple which bees can’t see. So the flowers get pollinated and the bees don’t waste time and effort!
Pic of bluebonnets from my yard that shows the upper half of the flowers with a white stripe and the lower half with a purple stripe. I grew these from the seeds of bluebonnets in a nearby state park where my dad, my sister, and I sneaked into a bluebonnet field in the woods and spread my mom’s ashes per her request.
