Just finished “Legacy” by @ucheblackstockmd.bsky.social In today’s local & global disruption & conflict, important to remember the work we can do within ourselves, to address the crushing inequity that is anti-black racism within healthcare. A powerful way to feel more in control in crazy times.

What am I reading right now? Three books at the same time!... this one gives 4-5 page summaries of 80+ subject areas. An excellent overview and an inspiring springboard into more detailed reading. Recommended!

For what it’s worth (& it’s worth a lot to me), I sent $$ to @who.int when USA cancelled support; I still prioritize diversity, equity & inclusion; I will support orgs helping Canadians hit by inevitable tariffs; & I won’t vote to join USA. Small actions to help me feel empowered in a crazy world.

This is an excellent presentation from @madhupai.bsky.social , providing a broader context for the current threats to support for global health initiatives, and some ideas for a response based in allyship.

I just donated to WHO - please join me…

“What if we proved WHO still matters? If each of us, believing the UN isn’t perfect but it’s all we’ve got, gave just $1…”Let’s raise $1 billion to support the World Health Organization’s critical mission.”

1 Dollar, 1 World
I have been at WHO for over 10 years. Like my colleagues, I have worked my butt off day and night to fight Covid and work towards universal access to health care. This place frustrates me every day.

Nelson Mandela: “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
Time for the world to re-examine its soul and for good people everywhere to demand leaders who will act for the protection of our children.
2024 was one of the worst years on record for children caught in conflict. And we’ve heard excuse after excuse as their rights are brutally violated.

This is unacceptable. Join us to call on world leaders to #ProtectChildrenInConflict.
