Why don't you enter our short story competition? The prize pool is a whopper
@fableration.bsky.social
A short story of mine will be going out to my local in-person writing group tomorrow in preparation for our quarterly meeting, so they can provide feedback, and I'm getting anxious about it 😬
This one is much closer to my heart than the previous one I submitted.

10 days ago, we decided we wanted to step in and help Meanjin. Since then, we've been in contact with Melbourne University Press and we are now waiting on some direction from their board.

Shout out to @savemeanjin.bsky.social - Fableration is trying to do something to help Meanjin and I'm sure we aren't the only ones. If we all pull together hopefully we can make something happen.

Thanks for sharing @authorsguild.org it's an interesting read. Tamar hits on publishing's Catch 22: if you follow the genre guidelines, you compromise your creativity. If you don't, you compromise your path to market.
"If an expert tells you they have the right way to write a book—regardless of the genre or topic—only take their advice if it feels right to you."

Author Tamar Hurwitz-Fleming with some tips on drawing on inspiration that helps make your writing unique.

Here's the @fableration.bsky.social vision of how AI can support - not replace writers. Is it one you can get behind? Would love to know your thoughts.
AI should free us from the grunt work — not the greatness.

Who wants a future where AI writes novels while authors scrub toilets?

The next chapter in AI should be written and governed by authors and publishers.

Bringing a book to market is an incredible feeling - except for the last 7 years I've felt the constant need to rewrite it. 🫣

Am I alone?
