you were $50k off on Knies’ AAV, though, so doesn’t this whole article need a ground-up rewrite now? 🤔

I really, sincerely hope it’s a comically large closet.

This question can be interpreted so many different ways… is there any way to gain any useful insights from the response?

Has (exactly) this question been asked before?

We had a good run of mostly-readable text on all the major OSes from Windows 8 until today, I guess.

Finally, Canada giving America a run for its money on backronyms. This is true sovereignty.

I’m not kidding. This should be a slam dunk political issue.
- It resonates—whether you’re an everyday person or an “anti-globalist”
- It boosts small local businesses
- It helps repair the damaged on-ramp to getting a job
- It reduces time wastage, increasing productivity or whatever

Big companies will complain if they’re forced to provide better service, saying it will lead to price rises.

You know who’s good at customer service? Small local businesses. Maybe it’s not a bad thing if they’re given an advantage.

Seriously, customer service is an issue that resonates with everyone.

Companies are intentionally making it difficult to get help, hoping you give up rather than fight the system.

They are fortifying these systems with automation and AI, while removing crucial entry level jobs from the economy.

My whole political platform:

If a company makes a mistake, and you notify a front-line employee (via chat, email, phone, or in person), the company is required to resolve the issue within one week, otherwise a full refund is issued for any related product.

“I was double charged”

“Oh. I can’t help with that. You need to call this number.”

“Out working hours are Tues-Thurs 1am-3am.”

“Our wait time is 2 hours.”

“Oh, that’s via another company, let me transfer you.” *click* *silence* *call mysteriously ends 20 minutes later*

Yup.

(But if you host software on your website and you allow these ads and don’t make the real download button incredibly obvious, you bear responsibility.)

I have a CS degree, I know the innards of encryption algorithms, and I write software with some advanced security use cases in mind.

If I can almost get tricked, and I’ve been trained in this field, what hope does an unpaid intern with a leftover 2017 Dell Latitude and no motivation have?

I like to think I’m pretty security conscious. But I’m a Mac user, where these are (IME) much less prevalent.

I set up my first PC in 15 years a few months ago, and these nearly got me. Didn’t occur to me that the reasonably-reputable sites I was downloading from would allow malware ads like that.

Apple runs the backbone of the podcast industry, on top of RSS of all things, and makes no money on it, and nobody—especially Apple—is happy about it, but it will also never change

I don’t have existential dread, which is confusing as a Leafs fan, and that is triggering my existential dread?

It takes a special type of narcissist to tweet something, then hold a press conference where you hand out a printed copy of the tweet because you thought it was so clever.
