Working at tablecheck.com
Recently discovering @svelte.dev and getting some pretty heavy “grass is greener” feelings. Just playing around feels so nice!

Currently my biggest issue with all these AI tools is how poorly they perform on mobile. From completely unusable, to getting the input font size wrong so iOS always zooms in… so many basic mistakes…

Looking around I feel like I was the only person to use the auto close tabs and global got key to trigger Little Arc from whatever app I was in. None of the other browsers seem to be able to do this 🙁

My boss at worked likened the current AI movement in coding to the printing press revolution. People with bad handwriting benefitted the most from the printing press, people with good handwriting either ended up loosing their job, finishing a niche or adapting.

😂 I can tell you why we’re stuck on Ember 2.17 - upgrading to v2 took 6 months for a senior dev and it’s really hard to convince anyone to put that kind of time aside for upgrading again. (Not for lack of trying…) even harder now due to bigger and more complex codebase. 😢
@aalimovs.bsky.social what has you stuck on EmberJS 3.16?

The naming of “Page Object Model” is terrible on so many levels, least of which is its tendency to get abbreviated to POM.
Biggest issue is how it fails to accurately describe what it’s used for or “modelling”.
Should have been “Test Harness” or “User Simulation Model”…

Is anyone using AI to assist musicians and artists rather than do it for them?
Like I don’t want AI to write a song for me, I want it to help me write the song, particularly for the less technically minded artists.

Finished our annual tablecheck.com hackathon! Spent two days replacing Google sheets with @tanstack.com powered SPAs 🤣

Video of my interactive @sli.dev presentation introduction. Having full JS in the presentation lets me do a ton of things for this Feature Flags presentation for tablecheck.com IT Department.

Did my first presentation with @sli.dev today. Everyone was most impressed with my JS “games” demonstrating feature flag strategies.

Today’s 🌶️ take.
A for loop in a function is infinitely better then `.reduce` in all situations.

Feels nice being able to read everyone’s posts without wading through all the garbage ads. Probably should go look up @bsky.app’s plan for making money if there is one. You know, just in case I need to be mentally prepared for this being temporary.

First time playing with @bolt.new - think it went pretty well jazzy-gingersnap-f2c569.netlify.app for generating a throw-away thumbor URL generator
Vite + React + TS

Has anyone else noticed that the Animated Skeleton loader pattern has just vanished from all major apps? LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube all just use static colour blocks with no animation 🤨

Was this just a trend that’s now over…
