Back in 2011, Turkish media was all over a star 17-year-old left back who was on his way to Real Madrid. The teenager did TV and newspaper interviewers, and his social media showed him at the Bernebeu.

It was all made up. Oh, and he's now deputy mayor of London

50 years ago today, a tube driver went to work with £270 in his pocket, which he said was to buy his daughter a car.

A few hours later, 43 people were dead after that same driver careened into a wall at Moorgate station.

Why? Well, nobody knows.

Even London's official 'cycleways' are often unlit - and dangerous. Runners don't have it much better. Here's Sian Bradley and Ella Hodson on why women are abandoning their winter exercise www.thetimes.com/uk/london/ar...
Unlit London parks ‘stop women running and cycling in winter’
Research suggests that the capital’s cycleways leave women feeling isolated and unsafe, and it is not much better for those jogging in the dark either

There were more than thirty greyhound racetracks in London after the war. Now there’s one. We sent Patrick Kidd to meet the people who still care, at the last night of racing at Crayford
