GenX, IT graybeard freethinker, who's been GM'ing & playing TTRPG's since 1978. Currently GM'ing an almost 3yr PF2e campaign, and looking to get back into Rolemaster and trying the new "The Broken Empire" TTRPG.
I'll pull up a chair with any good Simulationist TTRPG I can find. Love a good session in Rolemaster (RMSS/FRP, RMU), GURPs, HarnMaster, Hackmaster, Traveller or HERO. Rules-light isn't my cup of tea; too loosy-goosy for me.

Late to the conversation, but I've heard the lack of historical products is due to rights issues with the authors. Lack of payment back in the day (with the bankruptcy), and hard feelings. Current ownership had tried to contact as many authors as they can find, but still not enough. 😫

I did give them homework; to think hard about heist's and how hard it would be to break into a Casino that fears and prepares for even simple magic.
I'll allow some of PF1e's alchemical items, such as Aging Cream, Perfume Kits and Alchemical disguise kits IF that's the path they choose.

HârnMaster: The game where active Rolemaster players say "That's a little too many rules for me.". 😉

The first TTRPG that taught me that combat was in many cases the worst option available to the party. 🤣 I was on the wrong end of too many open ended attack rolls, where even a 'Tiny Animal' Crit can cause death after 9 rounds of shock and internal bleeding.

I guess it depends on the group. I could see some people getting overwhelmed with the choices, especially if they aren't experienced ttrpg'ers.

The Chase scene, having reread the rules multiple times, went exceptionally well. I think that was probably due to me being very lose with the parties suggestions for skills to bypass the obstacles. Of course they had to act those out, but that's part of the fun isn't it?

For the vast majority of new GM's and PF2e players, the remastered Beginner Box is the place to start. It has everything a new GM and players need.
Especially now, as Paizo has a Humble Bundle going and you can pick up the Beginner Box PDF's for as little as $5 (the $30 bundle is a steal (IMHO)).

Our session is good for Thanksgiving, but lands on Christmas and New Year's this year. 😉
Happy gaming!

I'd be leery of any of the pre-remaster Classes/Archetypes
(for new players), just because of the confusion between old/new names with the remaster (particularly spells).
As a GM, I lean on my players for their deeper PC knowledge, but I still need a fair understanding of them too. 😉

Lol, you got that right.
My party started Agents of Edgewatch without a healer. Let's just say they doubled down hard on Medicine.😄. I also implemented the Stamina subsystem to ease things some too.

😃 Thanks for the confidence. I'm about there I think. Getting the tokens and images right for the encounter maps is what I'm working on now.
I figured out a way to pull clean AoE paper token images into Foundry, and it's helped A LOT. The end is in sight. 🎉

Nice. I've dared to tread on Mythic rules yet, not allowing the PC's the option in our existing campaign. But I know it's coming. 😁
I'd be interested in your experiences.

I've been running a group of 6 through AoE for the past 18 months. Prep time is a bit more involved, and I use tools like 'Mimic Fight Club' to help me zone-in combat a bit better.
Skill duplication is rough too, so I really push the PCs to brainstorming skill usage.

I understand completely. Never so glad to be starting a new chapter of our existing PF2e campaign. Allows me to focus in on the prep, NPC's and challenges for the party, and not have to look at anything else. And play with AI NPC portrait generation. =)

I find the only thing DDG is good at is disappointing me with its results. Over many years I've tested it against the big dog and its results always fail to impress. Shame, as I'd like a decent, different alternative.
