Also, apropos of my last post - my handle on this platform (silly-walker) is a little bit of self-deprecating humour about my gait because of my SB, and also a reference to Monty Python's "Ministry of Silly Walks" sketch.

As those who know me offline know, I have spina bifida - i.e. I am visibly and obviously disabled.
For a long time now I've been concerned over the direction this country's euthanasia laws have been going. Canadians with disabilities deserve - and demand - better than "medical assistance in dying"

Sidestepping, if I may, the issue of the hard problem of consciousness (to wit: to what degree, or not, are mental phenomena merely brain-states, is there a spiritual component to the human being, etc) it seems fairly uncontroversial to say that the brain, in some sense, gives rise to the mind.
