#TheRingsOfPower may have many flaws, but I forgive them all for one huge thing they've done for me: changing Sauron from a black meaningless blob into this beautiful, complex character. And casting #CharlieVickers to play him was one genius move.

And god is it weird to say 'Sam' now! It's like it's monopolized by Heughan now, there can't be any other Sams, including the one this one was named after 😁

Before Heughan, the brain reaction was built like this: Sam => hobbit Sam => yikes => the name is also yikes.

I couldn't help myself but google the comparison between the show and actual Tolkien's work.
Turns out everything that they've created is the stuff that annoyed me from the beginning - especially the Stranger and the harfoots that even visually resemble the corresponding LOTR characters!

Ahhh, Sauron is GOOD! And Vickers is great as him.
Elendil and Isildur are awesome as well, and so is Miriel. And fuck everyone who doesn't like her skin colour! She is amazing.

Caught myself thinking while watching opening credits to ep14 - like to many Sam is just Jamie, to me Outlander - is just Sam's job.
Of course, there are many, many details to that statement, but in the nutshell - that's it:
some fans 'love' Sam because he's in OL;
I 'love' OL because Sam's in it.
