Weekend reading 2.

“In 1975 twenty SF writers isolated themselves in the remote Dandenong Range of Australia and began, under the leadership of Ursula K. Le Guin, a bizarre series of exercises designed to deliberately alter their human and literary perceptions”

Build the North South Rail Link already and stop parking diesel trains on prime city real estate. No South Station platform expansion, no Widett layover, and no to this.

‪Good time at the Ashmont tree lighting in #Dorchester.

Ashmont Youth Violence Collaborative Christmas fundraiser next weekend at the Cathay Pacific. Asked to share on socials and a non-zero chance I'd be there anyway with my wife so even better for a cause and to make our Christmas donations.

Thankful this year to our corner shop for being open and saving dinner when we forgot an essential ingredient, the kids out front smoking up and being real excited to buy some ice cream, and my wife for wanting to move home with me maybe more than I did. #Dorchester #Boston

"Back then there were two movie theaters, bakeries, and a Brigham’s ice cream shop."

A lot of us who want more housing in our neighborhoods think the NIMBY-YIMBY fight is the wrong one to be having and that it is ultimately a pro capitalist, pro developer, divisive, and anti community framework. So there's some hesitation while understanding you are trying to do the right thing.

Really wish there was a name for people who believe that solving the housing crisis requires more than increasing supply and letting private markets do their thing.
