incidentally this is why I'm of mixed mind about the switch 2 game key card thing. On the one hand, it formalizes a thing publishers just sometimes lie about on other platforms.

on the other, everyone hates it which is why they have to lie in the first place. maybe just print games properly?

i get that platform holders continue to try as hard as they possibly can to manufacture consent for an all-digital future and the Switch 2 in particular is trying very hard on this front but still, I insist on making them work for it. The games that don't work without a download are a minority.

they doo so technically ppl will at least be able to use switch2s to play switch1 games lmao.

the Switch2's internal storage is not nearly big enough for a console whose library is 90% download-only. Extra storage is extremely expensive.

all of these cartridges will completely stop working when the servers go down someday making retro Switch2 a useless brick while ppl still play Switch1.
