Morroyo's tail poofs up when he's startled, scared, or very emotional. He's done a LOT to tame it (he's a diplomat as well as a teacher), but if you look carefully, his tail still poofs.
Does your miqo'te tail puff up in certain situations? Cause I love the idea of it ☺️

I'd thought of shipping Morroyo with Y'shtola and/or Urianger an an AU. Both Y'shtola and Urianger are researchers and arcane masters.
For Lewin, it's Lyna or Yugiri. (I think both would be good matches in AUs if he didn't have the Esteem problem.)

Morroyo is a teacher and a mentor at the Arcanists Guild in Limsa. He's a patient instructor, but he's also a big believer in putting theory to practice. You won't spend ALL of your time studying texts. He'll take you with him to apply those in the real world.

Not against a certain race per se, but Kezz has a grudge against Gridanians, including both Hyur AND Wildwood Elezen. His grandfather had fled to Ul'dah after he was accused of a crime he didn't commit. Plus all the racism he's experienced there himself

What if instead of Lewin going through the DRK issue with Esteem...it was MORROYO? In canon, DRK is NOT a job he picks up, for the same reason RPR and BLM aren't canon jobs for him.
In a lot of ways, Morroyo would have been MUCH scarier than Lewin. 👀
