There are many different flavours of kruidnoten these days: all kinds of chocolate, salted caramel, spicy, truffle cinnamon roll, red velvet, etc. So I don’t know why this bothers me, but it does. Kruidnoten bars -- they’re the right shape but at the same time they’re not! #Sinterklaas

Time Breaker is a quick game from Looney Labs. Players navigate the mixed up time streams on a small tile grid.

Arresting the Time Breaker is easy; returning to HQ before your opponents nick them is hard. But forcing other players into chaotic time travel is the best part!

Ulterior Design is a quick game from Ao/NZ. The goal is to collect trendy Decor cards for an award winning home. The fun part is guerilla decorating your opponents homes to make them look average!

The marooned #lighthouse Oud Kraggenburg; completely surrounded by fields due to land being reclaimed from the Zuiderzee in 1940. The lighthouse didn’t need to be tall because it was just there to guide ships into harbour.
Left to right, a ditch, two russet leaved trees on green grass, and further up the hill a small house with a short, red-roofed lighthouse on top of its roof. Another russet tree further to the right. The sun is setting out of view and casting an autumnal glow.

Nieuwsteeg 2, #Leiden, is being thoroughly and respectfully renovated by its new American owners. Apparently, this is the second year they’ve welcomed visitors for the Open Monumentendagen. One of the features is the tiled angels having a wee in the 13th century cellar.

Someone on the #Leiden Uni boat held up a sign in trans colours saying, “This sign isn’t political but Pride is.” Which makes me wonder if something had been said about the Canal #Pride signs. So here’s a boat with lots of them.

#Leiden Canal #Pride was bigger and better than ever this year. Highlights were the foldable rainbow fan and the saxophonist absolutely going for it during We Found Love. And so many happy people all around us.

At #Leiden CS. This one’s for the people who wondered about the no fun, “no balloons allowed” signs at #Schiphol station. Helium balloons do not play nicely with overhead lines in an underground station like Schiphol. :)

#Leiden’s music festival Werfpop was successfully resurrected yesterday.

This is Naaz, a Kurdish-Dutch singer-songwriter with a beautiful voice. When she announced, “this next song is about my autism diagnosis,” there was very sincere cheering from certain parts of the audience. :)

I’ve cycled over so many of these black cables in #Leiden recently. The cables register the amount, weight, and direction of traffic.

They’re called “telslangen”, literally, counting hoses. Or, as slangen also means snakes, counting snakes.
So, beware of the adders. :)

More tulips today, this time floating ones on a pond in the Vondelpark, Amsterdam. Loved seeing this wisteria waterfall on the way out too.

There was a military tattoo in #Leiden to open the festivities which mark 80 years since liberation.

It was very good, though we all felt for the one guy whose beret fell off at the start. He’ll need a new one for next year.

I always feel lucky to live in Leiden which has so many things reasonably close by. For example, cycle 10km and there’s tulip fields! #BloomScrolling
