Maybe main prizes sent to players directly rather than to LGS? (obv not happening but would solve the issue, FNM gets the top 8 crap promos, main thing is sent to the winner)

That is my observation too. I mean the Purple Worm example is not something I invented - I literally won a promo pack at the FNM and opened Purple Worm in my rare slot. Go me winning prizes.
