Oh, my gosh, you guys.

I just found out that Cheech and Chong sometimes indulged in POT CIGARETTES.

A better world isn’t just possible, it literally exists! You can go there! Public transit infrastructure is vastly faster and more convenient than cars for 95% of use cases!
A lot of people assume that Amsterdam has been biketopia since time immemorial but it actually was car hell for decades before the citizens became fed up with car fatalities and forced the government to rebuild everything around mass transit and bikes. It took time and will, but they did it.
Driving didn’t “naturally” become inevitable. We designed a society that make driving inevitable in most places. We can design something different

Today's act of love: self-reflection.

Today, if you encounter someone different (culturally, racially, socio-economically) pay attention to your inner dialogue - are you scared, happy, confused, curious? Why?

If the day ends and you haven't met someone different, why is that? What prevented it?

Today's act:

Reach out to a friend or family member who you have lost touch with.

No agenda, just let them know you are thinking about them, curious about how they are doing, and value the relationship.

man, if this post wasn't making sense 5 months ago, do y'all see what I'm talking about yet?
Vermin... are the root of man's impurity. Those who wish to see vermin can, and those who choose to are provided with boundless purpose.

Pay to mind to the fact that vermin resemble a human spinal cord, don't think too hard about that salute or that helmet having only one eye... Confederates.

The goal of this account is to give ideas each day for ways to "move the needle" and make small steps towards a more caring and empathetic culture and resist dehumanizing forces.

“Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”

Bucket crimes, crimes committed with my bucket friend, crimes my bucket friend told me to do, crimes committed whilst inside the infinite hole labeled K, skip button crimes, eternally recursive crimes (so many recursive crimes), crimes of choice, or perhaps crimes I had no choice but to commit...
Confess your crimes to me

Most people have heard the quote “history is written by the winners”. I want everyone to understand that this is not some kind of metaphor. It is quite literal. Fascists always work to literally erase the artifacts that tell the history that they don’t want told.
The Department of Defense deemed a story about baseball hero and civil rights leader Jackie Robinson's time in the Army as "DEI" and deleted it.

I do not know what I am doing, and tbh I should not be trusted with sharp objects. I'm wearing flip flops. I do not belong here... but here I am. Hey, is there a wood relief carving side of bluesky? If so, do y'all wanna tell me how to do this thing or what to avoid?

painting a tiny face with acrylics while trying to show someone enraptured in joy and freedom is hard, I need to give her hair but gotta step away to feed the dog. Wherever this is when I go to bed tonight is where it will remain forever, wish me luck

The first Soulsborne game I ever attempted was Dark Souls 2 SOTFS, I created my character and wandered the opening area for 2 hours trying to figure out where to go, I never saw the door in the back of the hut. I never got beyond the hut. I killed the big enemy, but couldn't find the door. 2. hours.

I think I'm starting to get a better grasp on value / color theory or whatever as this painting comes along

It's fun to sit and mark the end of each chunk of time I sit down to work on this painting by sharing the results. The sun has gone down and I don't have the greatest options for lighting in this house, so I tried to capture it with what I have. Real life's some combo of these:

Sorry for posting so many updates by sharing the results of each session I have working on this desert sunset painting, I learn by getting to see how others' work develops across their process so I want to share mine for others who do the same 🫶

Albert Bierstadt worked back to front so I guess I will too. This is my first time painting rocks. This is my first time trying most of these things. Or, alternatively, it's just another attempt at capturing light and forms, which I've done many times. Still so much more to do.

I think I finally figured out how the light should work... Quite pleased with myself, honestly. God rays for days. Might be able to knock out the foreground soon!

Was swapping out a load of laundry and realized that the lint trap makes for a kinda perfect custom-light able reference for learning how to understand different lighting conditions on certain cloud textures/types

I don't think I've ever posted this painting here, it's kinda fun. I'm looking at that pose & hearing the 3 physical therapists who independently asked me "have you ever heard of Ehlers Danlos" within 5 minutes of meeting me (& constantly corrected my weird leg positions in session)

I've bitten off more than I can chew, PS did you guys know it's kinda hard to paint on a tiny canvas because if you mix only the amount you think you'll need, IT DRIES SO FAST, oh well this won't be what I was aiming for but there's a lotta pretty colors & I'm learning a lot!
