HT: Seem to have sacrificed control in order to be quick on the counter. Have looked dangerous going forward but have invited pressure. Middlesbrough are well in this, need another to kill this off.

Glad to see us win after conceding first for the first time this season, big step forward.

Mason-Clark made a huge difference after coming on. That plus having MvE’s long throws and Torp’s set-pieces is why we’re back winning.

Not great tonight, shows how much having a solid and consistent back line has helped us at the start of this season.

Woollfenden exposed badly but never really put pressure on balls into the box throughout the game.

HT: Far from fluent here so very glad to have the lead. Sakamoto and Mason-Clark looking dangerous down the wings, Wright has kind of been marked out the game. Back four looking unsettled, need a second to kill this off.

MVE is going to be a huge miss next week. His ability to cover the high line is already hugely important to our play but we’re also losing that long throw to pin teams in as well.

Did well to manage that second half apart from the penalty. High line was exposed today, think that’s where we missed an extra midfielder to put pressure on those passes over the top.

Felt like a painfully long second-half. Thought the shape made us very passive without the ball and that invited Portsmouth onto us. The benefit was that the front three were always ready to pounce on the counter and that sealed it. Simms and BTA immense today, Grimes as ever a crucial calm head.
