That said, with the release of Linux From Scratch 13.0-rc1, I will return to my learnings. I had to abandon the previous attempt because it was hard to swap from my main pc in order to build packages. Much easier to do on a laptop

But arch is the best. Because configuration is transparent to the user. Because most packages have relatively few tinkerings from upstream. Because I don't have to wonder if there's some quirk in the os that's been abstracted away.

It is fine that people want simple. And for no-fuss linux, I thino something lile bazzite, mint, fedora, or openSUSE is just about there.

I struggle to push people towards mint because people tend to want new hardware, and so need a recent kernel. My arc gpu is an example

And once to move to the AUR nvidia driver whrn said company dropped support for the 1060 in my old laptop.

I have had to troubleshoot a few issues:

My new laptop has an issue with AMD's panel self-refresh. So I disabled it.

My desktop's Battlemage doesn't play nice with VRR, so I disabled it

I am not a programmer. I don't know java and I still struggle to fully understand a bash script.

No joke, I've been thinking along these lines all of last year myself. Bring back RSS and simple html webpages. How hard can it be to grab a cheap old thrown-away windows 10 box, flash it with arch or somth. and buy a domain name?
