Here we sample the radius as random(). Turns out when you do that the points are flocking to the center! This basically happens, since the regions in the parametrization cover differently sized areas in the target region (circle). This is an important issue when you do random sampling.

Since I found out Liascript is now all in on GenAI, I thought about updating some code. Here is a visualization of sampling points in a circle. The colors encode the density of all points in each region. Here, we sample the radius as a sqrt(random()). Otherwise it looks like the next video!

Finished my first original light novel in Japanese without furigana! It was also the longest so far, great combination. The writing was also more difficult than the ones I read before. Really improved my reading I think. It was a huge struggle though lol

Finally. チョコレート菓子 (chokoreetokashi, chocolate candy) read as アルフォート (arufooto, a type of chocolate snack).

Next up is 弾薬 (danyaku, ammunition) read as ショットシェル (shottosheru, shotgun shell).

Haven't seen too many interesting things in a while, but then a few. This time a set of words that look like a dictionary, the reading spells out a brand or specific thing, the word itself being generic. First: ガンケース (gankeesu, guncase) read as ペリカン (pelican, some brand of case?).

So glad we are living in the auto generated, on by default translation world. So glad we don't have to see or hear languages that are not our native one. Of course I don't want to read accurate documentation, hear someone talk in Japanese or English, read a video title... Would crush my feeble mind

This art Installation looks exactly like when one makes their first deferred many light renderer...

I don't know, man... I looked at an usb charger packaging upside down...

heh, Tokyo Bay near Chiba. Nice

Sometimes you come across a paper that plainly states a fundamental truth of the world. "Research on stress suggests that technology is one of the factors that causes stress". Yes... it does. In "The impact of technostress on role stress and productivity" by Tarafdar et al.

Haven't seen interesting Japanese typographic curiosities recently, but I did today! サイト (saito=here: sight of a gun) gets the helpful reading 照準 (shoujun) which means sight of a gun. So many fun things people do with readings! Do you still call this furigana? I guess you call them Ruby characters

やった!Finished my fourth Japanese book: Ascendance of a Bookworm! Highly recommend getting books targeted at teenagers for learning and reading everything out loud to yourself. Not too hard or easy. Really improved my reading and speaking. First one will be slow and hard but it gradually gets better

Preparation for the JLPT before it goes in the trash. One thing I did not expect was that on the actual exam paper you have to mark your answers on it's kinda hard to draw filled circles lol All these mock exams did not teach me that most important fact 😔

Having learned English as a second language, I always come across meanings of words I didn't know before

More playing around with my fluid simulation. Added very simple animation loops. Collision with moving bodies could use some work, but is ok for smaller speeds and not too many particles. I'm having fun looking at it lol
May 17, 2025 at 3:27 PM
Want some tea? Next up will be particle spawners, some force fields and some very basic automatic movement of colliders. That might be it though, I am now in the just looking at the simulation and being content phase

Added fluid dynamics! :) It does take a bit of parameter fiddling to keep it stable once you add >100k particles, but that is fine for now. Also helpful to not plug in constants with the wrong unit that are off by a factor of 1000, which I definitely did not do, nope

Another scene (programmer art!) with some non-transparent particles rolling down a tube. Please don't judge my menus... this is for fun! Also recordings made it hickup a bit. Next up, the particles will interact :)

Haven't done much recreational graphics programming lately! Saw some particle systems, which got me thinking of sticking together some things I haven't put together before! :) Step 1: Basic GPU particle system. Step 2: Collision with environment (not each other, something for that will come next)

Today's interesting find in a Japanese book: 生活 (seikatsu, meaning: life) with the English reading "living" attached. I think this one is fun, as it doesn't use kana for the reading. I have not encountered this before!

I was annoyed at all the bullshit AI recently added to VS code to begin with, but now it also just appears in new files and terminals as well? I hate it. Tried to disable it (you can't delete it), but either it's not possible or I missed an option. VS code became my fav IDE and then they ruined it

Finished my third Japanese book (middle one)! 🥳I know those are children's books, but I'm still happy about it. When I started the first one, each page took a long time and I had to look up and reread a lot to understand it. In the 3rd one I got most of it while reading. Progress is slow, but exists
