NBA teams are cheaper to run on both sides of the equation. Their salary cap is around $155M and since they have half the amount of games compared to MLB, that's half the amount of employee salary and utility costs, etc.

Meanwhile, the revenues aren't much different, so you get more ROI in NBA.
