Check out the Itasca #biological Station annual report for 2024. If you run a remote #fieldstation, staying on the radar is part of the job. And it is a place-based deal, so this should make you feel like you’re there. cbs.umn.edu/sites/cbs.um...

Mighty Mississippi at -23 F from the first road bridge on its journey. It flows north out of Itasca, and arcs east before heading south. 500 miles to Saint Paul downriver. I’ve paddled a canoe under here many times. Seen wolf tracks. Eagles. Plenty of lost flip flops too from headwaters tourists.
