Melatonin is sold OTC, unregulated, and often taken nightly for years.
But long-term safety data especially cardiovascular—are limited.
Even “natural” isn’t always risk-free.

Before we sound the alarm this is correlation, not causation.
Melatonin users may have worse insomnia, more anxiety/depression, or other health issues driving the risk.
Still, it challenges the idea that melatonin is a “natural, safe” fix for sleep.
