But if you’re going to watch something then you really should make the effort to watch it in a way that doesn’t disrespect the original presentation (e.g. don’t jack up the speed, don’t watch AI-interpolated garbage) otherwise why even bother.

(I kinda wish I could still binge watch 250 episodes in 2 weeks but 1: I don't have that kind of free time anymore and 2: that was over 10 years ago ooooof)

Having seen so much Gintama before, revisiting the first two episodes does feel like a watered down version of a normal Gintama mini-arc but other than that the adaptation has been spot-on with reordering chapters and introducing original gags to keep the pacing lively.

That being said I'm back on the Manga Taisho reading train with Beastars. I'm kinda surprised at how much of the early plot I forgot but then again it's been 6 years since I watched season 1 and a lot has happened (both inside and outside of animanga). Super engaging so far.

This isn't to say that the official English title is bad by any means, just more that I really like the word shambles and want to see it used more outside of like One Piece.

That being said I can't help but wish that there's a translation of the title out there that uses the word shambles since I think it better fits the vibe of 破綻 that I've seen from the series (though tbh not sure how I feel about something like "Momose Akira's Shambolic First Love")

(I do already have lists that Shueisha/others have compiled throughout the years but for me it's figuring out what about these series makes them interesting both in terms of the visual storytelling and also their role in the Jump mythos during and even after serialization)

(Side note I have a sort of ongoing manga project for myself where I try to figure out a sort of canon for Weekly Shonen Jump which I know is incredibly presumptuous but I see it as an opportunity to explore series which are unknown outside of Japan but nevertheless have historical importance)

So basically this guy is full of shit and has nothing to offer outside of snazzy transitions and fast-paced delivery, which I guess is perfect if you're looking for brainrot. Maybe I'll audit that seinen video as well if I want to inflict more psychic damage on myself.

It gets even worse when you find out that Sunday and Champion were entirely excluded. Instead we get choice series from Jump SQ and Jump+, which may have just been mistaken for WSJ series (I could tack on Kodansha's other shonen mags being missing as well but that's belaboring the point)
June 4, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Now that's fine and dandy if it was just WSJ but then the vid goes on to include a few Weekly Shonen Magazine series, which is where the exclusions get really egregious; you mean to tell me Ashita no Joe, Ace of Diamond, Devilman aren't important enough to include but Rent-A-Girlfriend is???

Starting with just Shonen Jump, I counted 74 / ~100 watchable shows, which on its own would be fairly impressive if there was actually any insightful commentary but also leaves out recent shows like Bastard!!, Elusive Samurai, Yozakura Family for no valid reason (not to mention older ones as well)
June 4, 2025 at 7:06 PM
I first saw that channel pop up with the "I watched every shonen" video and out of boredom I decided to audit that claim since 100+ still isn't enough to encompass all of shonen (or even just Shonen Jump, which did serve as the backbone for most of that video)

I’d also pay good money for like Dune Miku or God-ish Miku as a scale figure.
