In crashes, high-fronted cars typically strike adult pedestrians above the centre of gravity, often first hitting vital organs.

The higher the vehicle front the more likely a person will be knocked under the car, rather than pushed to the side, at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Avez-vous participé à la planification et à la construction des pistes cyclables parisiennes ? Connaissez-vous quelqu'un qui participe à la planification et à la construction ? J'aimerais beaucoup discuter.
Did you/do you work on the planning and construction of the Paris bike lanes? Do you know someone who does/did? I'd love to talk.

With a few exceptions, most streetcar routes share the road with cars, which can leave transit lines paralyzed in traffic - a scene that played out most recently on King Street, but is regularly seen throughout the city where cars and streetcars battle for priority.

Toronto grew up around its streetcars. Do they fit into its future?
Does Toronto have the faith — and money — to restore a transportation network that’s been on the decline for decades?

Really enjoyed debating the future of transport with Prof. Murtaza Haider at the U of T Mobility Network Path Conference. Moderated by Prof. S. Farber. Controversial issues (like the future of transportation) require bold talking. Fun to debate positively with someone who disagrees with me.

New paper! Wondered how we're doing on climate change mitigation? Have we switched from talking and planning to action? How can we get moving to meet 2030 targets? We took a look at what's up for the near (but not immediate) future - a time we rarely plan for iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...

I talk often about the challenge with infrastructure being people can’t imagine what they haven’t seen. Congestion pricing in New York working isn’t surprising except to the vast majority of people who have never seen such a thing. And that is really important. Helps us imaging a different future.
this is incredible stuff. most state DOTs would spend tens of billions on highway expansions to try and see numbers like this (that wouldn’t even pan out anyway thanks to induced demand lol)
