I haven't used Facebook for about 4 years. Opened it just now, ask me anything.

(I promise this isn't a post to dunk on it.)

This whole thread is exactly why I use a password manager and if an app doesn't let me sign up with email and password, I simply avoid it.
Ok I know nobody cares about this but me, but GOD I care:

1. I have just downloaded your app.
2. You want me to make an account. I don’t want to make an account!
3. When I enter my email, you inform me that I already have an account! This seems like a good thing, but I know it means only pain. 1/2

I've been waiting for this for literally years! Can't wait to stop using magic numbers for padding buttons!

In a twist of fate, I'm going to have to learn to use PHP and Moustache for a MediaWiki site.

There's so much circumstantial truth to this. When costs eventually become a problem, anything relying on AI will become forbiddingly expensive to upkeep.
Newsletter: We're at peak AI - generative AI models have hit the wall where they won’t improve much further thanks to a lack of training data, killer apps or any kind of sustainable business model.

The results of a collapse could be catastrophic.

So what I think I'm going to extrapolate from this is that targeted ads don't work.

X and Threads think they know what users want to see and try to sell the idea that it leads to better conversions, but reality says otherwise.
‘As publisher visibility diminishes on X, and with Meta seemingly unwilling to make Threads a breaking news destination, surging Bluesky traffic raises the possibility the platform may become professional journalism’s microblogging site of choice.’

Bluesky already delivering more referral traffic than X for some publishers
A Guardian audience editor says Bluesky sent more referral traffic to the news outlet in its first week there than X has any week in 2024.

I've only just started @bell.bz's Complete CSS but I'm beginning to think "Complete" is used as a verb instead of an adjective.

There's more being taught to complete your capabilities with CSS than just CSS itself.

@imlunahey.com Saw that you've been cleaning up your following list of inactive accounts. Might I suggest pruning bot accounts, like this one, which uses generated AI replies on practically everything too?

I just watched this video, which sums up my feelings about generative AI, at least where programming is concerned.

Just a random thought while commuting:

Would it be nice to name posts "Byus", and the act of posting "Imbyuing" like "imbuing"?

I originally thought of "imbue" but "bue" as the term has similar slang issues like "skeet", so I figured the phonetic spelling is better.

A few guides are floating around about adding alt text to images here, but I decided to create a video since some people are audio/visual learners. Also, I wanted to add an example of how alt text sounds on a screen reader.

The best thing about this release - our community "alpha testers" team caught a few nasty bugs just before we were about to release it a week ago...

We then fixed them and now it's finally ready.

God I love the @qwik.dev community! 🙌😍

Once again, I learn something new when I upload an image. 😅

The original image I uploaded is a PNG with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a size of 2.95 MB.

The resulting image is a JPEG with a resolution of 2000 x 1125 and 832kB in size.
I zoomed out as far as possible while still being able to click on my little dot. This is simply gorgeous.

Building a Bluesky client could be the next trend for every current and future framework.

To-Do app? Simple.
Hacker News clone? Plenty.
RealWorld? Perhaps not real enough.

Bluesky client? Might be worth a subdomain of your handle/portfolio site to show off your skill and personality!
Tired: Todo app example

Wired: Bsky client
