For my recent work, Avatar Amber Inclusion, I created insect wings for my Second Life avatar, MultiverseTraverser1. They are based off a scientific illustration of prehistoric dustywing insects, which are often found in pieces of amber. 🧚‍♀️

I seriously don't know how to explain to people that it is not in fact a sign of maturity and democracy to peacefully debate whether certain groups of people should be allowed to exist

You’ve probably heard that if you scream in space, no one will hear a thing. Total silence? Not really. Space is a vacuum, but it’s not completely quiet.

Spot the tiny scientific “puzzle pieces” in the Flame Nebula! In 2023, scientists used #NASAWebb’s infrared instruments to find several low-mass objects to better understand the lowest mass limit of brown dwarfs or “failed stars.” Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI. 🔭 🧪

Deep Time & Cosmic Time 🪨 🌌 Using the terrain of virtual land in Second Life, I juxtaposed the 2006 Hubble Ultra Deep Field with a default rocky terrain texture. I love how it turned out and I look forward to expanding on these sketches.

Revised & updated prehistoric Coniopterygidae (dustywing) wings. For this piece I’m stepping out of cosmology/astrophysics & into paleoentomology—a branch of entomology dealing with fossilized insects. Saving the rest for later, I’ll finish by saying my interest in 'time immemorial' led me here.

The WIP is finally WIP-ing. I successfully made my avatar some prehistoric dustywing wings for an artwork I am working on.

I recently finished a needle lace sample of an image from 'A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism' by James Clerk Maxwell. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out—the design is complex & I am a lace novice. It’s not perfect, but I really love it. #astrofibres #lacemaking #needlelace #textileart #sciart

We’re creating a massive, 3200-megapixel group photo…and it won’t be complete without YOU!

NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory’s LSST Camera — the largest camera in the world — began on-sky engineering tests this month. So let’s celebrate! 🔭🧪

my source of happiness is noticing the small things in life, like the way glass distorts its surroundings via refraction. 😌

Israel just bombed a civilian aid ship in international waters.

The Freedom Flotilla was carrying food and medicine to starving Palestinians in Gaza.

This is state terrorism — and Canada’s silence is complicity.

End the blockade. Sanction Israel. Free Palestine.

I’m so glad my Mom never let me read or watch Harry Potter as a child. Her reasoning was purely religious, but I am still glad we never put money into J.K. Rowling and never will!
