Christmas Eve snowshoe in this winter paradise

Freddy Mercury died of AIDS 33 years ago today. With modern medical technology, he likely would have lived. Never forget how much progress against major infectious disease has been made in a short time. We are at risk now of rolling back much of that progress.

Coffee outside has been a thing now for 10 years. And though I can’t be there to celebrate its milestone, I would like to acknowledge how good it feels to be part of something that builds human connections. If you haven’t been, you should come. It’s a good place.

Just any fyi, if you want to help a mutual get their news, message, or just a cute thing out into the bluesky, reshare them. Hearting them doesn't do this because there is no algorithm here. Get into the habit of reposting to boost others.

Stellar year for celestial sightings: in my local area I saw Aurora & comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS and in Austin a total solar eclipse! A real thrill to see all three!
