At this point I'm pretty much 100% convinced that becoming that rich *requires* being an awful person, and being that rich *makes* people awful (or more awful than they already were).
Are there exceptions? Maybe some entertainer? I don't know. And I don't care. They'll be fine with mere millions.

...if at least some of those "fuck yous" and at least some of that energy isn't directed at the billionaires themselves, and the system they're both cause and effect of, we're just going to end up back here (or somewhere worse) again very soon.

I just reread this, and my first thought is exactly what it was when it first came out last year although with all the ICE shit the context is different.
If people are going to put themselves in positions where they're exposed, it can do some good and improve things for others in the moment, but...

I know some people IRL that truly believe this. One in particular is actually a smart and very decent person, just spends too much time online in a bubble of a very specific type of leftist. I think some of the accounts he follows might be bad faith operatives but he isn't.
