I was planning a few linked A-Comic-A-Day threads, assuming I remember I’m doing it.
Let’s start with Whiz Comics #2 from Fawcett Publications in 1940. This is the first appearance of Billy Batson’s Captain Marvel, now known as Shazam.

Save Now. That’s not a prompt, it’s another A-Comic-A-Day.
Again, I bought a first issue based solely on the creative team, in this case Matt Kindt and Tomás Giorello. Had no idea what the book was about.
Well, I got a winner with this one.

Okay, let’s do one of the biggies…
Watchmen had to make an appearance on A-Comic-A-Day. Of course, it wouldn’t have done if I hadn’t enjoyed it. Only books I like make it here. But I did, so it has.

Thinking of comics for all of these A-Comic-A-Day posts has made me realise two things…
One, there are loads of titles that I know I loved reading but don’t remember much of the details.
Two, I really want to reread those comics and don’t have nearly enough time.
Example, The Strangers.

A-Comic-A-Day…
The romance comic genre used to be huge and their covers were always so dramatic. Great stuff!

Okay, I’ve just realised there are gonna be two parts to this A-Comic-A-Day. Didn’t think there were, but, apparently, I was wrong.
First, today’s comic is Absolute Wonder Woman #14. Specifically, this cover. I’ll get to the artist(s) in a bit.

Another A-Comic-A-Day that’s about a comic I hadn’t heard of and now want to read.
Marvel published a Battlestar Galactica comic from 1979 to 1981. Well, I know you knew that, but it’s news to me.
I looked it up and saw who the creators were…

I expect that a lot of December’s A-Comic-A-Day posts will be “stuff I just like” even more than the rest has been. Little explanation, just here’s a thing.
Batwoman: Elegy is the first. I’ve put the collected edition because that’s how I first read it, I think.

This is a love story.
No, not this.
This! Today’s A-Comic-A-Day… Galactic from Dstlry @dstlry.bsky.social
I know it is because the first line of Galactic tells me it is.
However!

I’ll be honest, this A-Comic-A-Day is going to be just a comic I like because I’m knackered and really want to go to bed.
Captain Britain is one of the first superheroes I liked. I think I’ve said that before.

Yesterday’s A-Comic-A-Day was Arcadia with The Question as one of three featured title characters. I’ve not read too many comics with The Question in. If my memory serves, the Renee Montoya version appeared in the series 52…

Batman/Green Arrow/ The Question: Arcadia is a new DC Black Label title and today’s A-Comic-A-Day.
Saw this on the shelf in the comic shop yesterday and bought it because it looked cool. And it is.

Hello everyone at @montecookgames.com , hope you're well.
Today in my local UK comic/game shop I asked about them getting one of your Cypher books in for me and was told that they couldn't get them at the moment and also that they weren't getting any replies to direct queries. 1/2

Only because today I bought an issue of the latest DC/Marvel crossover, here's one of the earlier examples, DC vs. Marvel.

When I was trying to think of a book for this A-Comic-A-Day, my mind went to the original run of Uncanny X-Men and the first issue I thought of was #268.
I had such fun reading about the X-Men during Chris Claremont’s run and 268 was unashamedly cool.

A-Comic-A-Day…
Today on Bluesky I saw a recommendation for a webcomic called Girl Genius. I now can’t find that post (Screenshot! Must remember to screenshot!), but the description sounded like my sort of thing and I wanted to read more webcomics.

Here on A-Comic-A-Day, we’ve recently been spoiled for Liam Sharp @liamsharp.bsky.social comics and today is no different as we feature Spawn: The Dark Ages issue 1 from @imagecomics.com
I think I’ve said before that I haven’t been a Spawn reader for decades…

A-Comic-A-Day…
Sometimes I just browse things and find stuff that I want to look at further. This time, I found All Select Comics #11 from 1946 and a character called The Blonde Phantom. Louise Grant is a masked hero who wears a floor-length evening gown and high heels… because why wouldn’t you.

In an episode of The Thinking Atheist podcast @thethinkingatheist.com Seth Andrews @sethandrews.com reads Isaac Asimov's excellent short story, 'The Last Question'.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Today on A-Comic-A-Day, we have Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual (1981) #2. This is the issue that contains the one-shot story by Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill, ‘Tygers’.
This is the little tale that spawned a thousand Green Lantern plots.
