This uses some single crochets on both ends and double crochets and chain stitches across the rest. The pattern is formed simply by where you put the stitches. There's a free version of the pattern on Crochet Highway's website, so maybe give it a try.

Something that annoys me is when a pattern writer just includes the pattern repeat and you then have to tile it across the piece you're knitting. If it's something small (e.g. socks) please show the full span of the colourwork pattern. 😣 I can work with charts like that but it adds room for error.
