“Be excellent to each other” - Bill & Ted

Sometimes I’m funny
Moral of this boring story: Don't believe what you see even if the source was trustworthy in the past. Find multiple independent sources and verify.

PS: We very much enjoyed the Dole whip and it was worth the trouble 😂

I checked the scale... Seemed to be functional and no visible damage. Then I changed the battery and tried weighing water again.

The scale is accurate now!

So I start to remeasure all of the Dole whip mix, and I got 10 portions out of the bag. Hurrah!

So I took my knowledge of the mass of water...1ml =1g (finally a use for my M.Sc!) and tested my scale. I measured known volumes of water multiple times.

The scale was incorrect by a factor of 2.

My instinct was to trust the scale because it always gave the correct info before. But is Dole really trying to scam me out of a few bucks by shorting me some powder mix? That seems a bit much. And there are regulations with food manufacturing etc, so I doubt it.

After filling 3 containers, I noticed I only had about half the bag of mix left, when I should have enough for 10 portions.

Either I was getting scammed by the Dole whip bag, or my previously reliable scale was wrong.

I used my trusty digital scale to measure 200g. My container was overflowing and it still was only 90g. I emptied it and continued until I had 200g total.
