I don't know who needs to know this, but if you are cleaning squash for cooking and want to roast the seeds for extra food, use a fork to pull the fully developed ones out of the squash and *then* clean it out with a spoon. So much easier.

Allrecipes has a lot of roasted pumpkin seed recipes.
Several small half pumpkins, some cleared of seeds and some in process, around a bowl of fully developed seeds with almost no pulp in it with a fork on top

My eldest kid went to the store and bought me a cylinder of chalky sadness. I'm so happy. I love these weird little things that taste like they were made in 1847.

Saturday I took some spindles and wool along to the art walk my college art club had a table at. I spent about an hour showing kids what I was doing before it was my turn to run the button maker.

So today we were pulling the very last of the 1940s steel kitchen cabinets (to move them down to the basement workshop) and I found ... This.

There's a lot of text here but the main things are HOSPITAL EXPENSE PROTECTION at the top and an itemized list of covered miscellaneous expenses up to the fabulous sum of 145 dollars. Operating room actual cost to $35 anaesthetic actual cost to $25 X-ray examination to $20 laboratory examination to $10 ambulance service to $10 blood transfusions to $25 medicine, drugs, dressings, and any other hospital expenses to $20 And a variety of coverages for room costs from $5 to $10 per day up to 100 days with an additional 5 days added on each year up to 150. Unlimited as to the number of separate disabilities a year per person. Surgical benefits from $20 to $250 operation on brain for fracture tumor abscess $250 tonsillectomy $25 appendectomy $100 removal of kidney $200 and all other surgery ... Usable anywhere - clinic - doctors office - home or elsewhere Accidental death benefit maternity benefite Monthly premium rates The high end plan is $3.30 for men under 65 and $3.65 for women under 65, with kids being $2.25 each up to three children. 65 to 79 the rates are $3 for men and $3.75 for women with a note that a lower per day room rate of $4 is covered

Also the coil built vase has been bisque fired and glazed. It's firing again over this weekend.

I might be doing kind of ok in ceramics class. Coil built pot, asymmetric, kind of messy, and still might not make it through firing, but nice nonetheless.
