Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

14 GOP senators are urging the Trump admin to release stalled NIH funds, warning that delays could shut down life-saving research, cost jobs, and erode public trust in science.

On the line? Real people, real cures, real consequences.

I used to take staycations with the lofty goal of getting my life together. Now I just hope I can briefly break free from the daily cycle of anxiety/depression/panic/doomscrolling/despair cycle that consumes me.

It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

WTF?!? Border Czar Tom Homan claimed that ICE and Border Patrol agents don’t need probable cause to detain people they suspect are undocumented, saying they can do so based on factors like physical appearance. This is straight-up racial profiling, not law enforcement.

The ICE budget is now set to be approximately what the NIH budget was. We’re shifting money from solving real problems to solving fictitious problems.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

It feels like we are crossing Rubicon after Rubicon in America’s descent towards authoritarianism. Now is the time for those Republican Senators who have concerns - and they do exist - to speak up about how their colleague Alex Padilla was handled.

Now is not the time to be silent.

The video footage of @padilla.senate.gov being forcibly removed and handcuffed is disturbing and unacceptable.

What we’ve seen today continues the dangerous trend of this administration intimidating anyone who stands up and disagrees with them.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

I am so scared about doing this but I am trying to be brave for my kids because it's only gonna get harder to speak up."

Every $1 spent on NIH funding returns nearly $3 to the economy - an almost 200% return on investment💰.
Also 99% of drugs developed 2010-2019 were funded by NIH ‼️🤯
Cutting NIH funding not only hurts the economy but will hurt families and patients 😔💔

$9 billion a year for NSF is absolute chump change. It's nothing. And yet, cutting it will devastate American science for decades.

God, we're led by a morons, empowered by idiots.
Your regular reminder that NSF grants built the internet and helped the U.S. dominate tech.
BREAKING: NSF has frozen all grant funding, as of yesterday. It's unclear when they will resume funding awards, or why the pause has been put in place. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
