More niche titles like Earthion have come out this year with gorgeous graphics pushing 16 bit consoles to their limits, including an amazing soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro. It is also an amazing game

In the main part of the game screen there is a fight going on in the clouds on what is perhaps a sunset from high up in the atmosphere. Clouds fill the background, the clouds on top and bottom are dark blue but turn brighter closer to the middle. In the middle the clouds look pink and white with hints of red. The player ship is small and to the left with 2 options firing missiles. To the right there is a large enemy ship with two big wings

I LOVE retro games! BUT while there are many problems with the current video game industry (overworking, acquisitions, massive layoffs, etc), I don't agree with the doomers saying gaming is dead.

Maybe it's a recency bias, but 2025 has been filled with AMAZING releases.

Sharing my review of Miside. I don't review games often on Steam and there's no shame if you did like it! But it was disappointing to me as someone who loves horror anime and stories that break the 4th wall.
Not Recommended 0.0 hrs last two weeks / 6.4 hrs on record Posted: 20 Jul @ 3:11am Updated: 20 Jul @ 3:11am PROS Cute girl and the graphics and menus are well done CONS Bland forgettable story Does not bring anything new to the 4th wall breaking metafiction genre Not psychological: it's filled with cheap jump scares and by the end of the game they ran out of tricks to pull and the jumpscares became annoying Boring gameplay: it's a walking sim with some pointless unrelated minigames attached to pad the game out Main game implements mechanics ripped out of other horror/games with no twist or unique take on the concept Gameplay has no real challenge to it Music? I can't remember a single track from the game I can't recommend this game, I love stories with yandere characters and I love psychological horror but this does neither well. If you like yandere characters and 4th wall breaking metafiction I recommend "Doki Doki Literature Club", or even better imo "You and me and her: a love story". If you want thrilling psychological horror anime stories check out something like Corpse Party, or read "Higurashi" or "Umineko" . If you like horror anime games with more interesting gameplay try out "Saiko no Sutoka". All of these games are better in my opinion.
