Added spikes to the game, everyone's favourite obstacle. Here is a GIF of the maid deliberately stepping on spikes to show that they do indeed hurt. You can also dodge over them if you're feeling brave.

Adding a bunch of environmental gimmicks like ledges and various obstacles. Ledges took a while to make but you can dodge while jumping off them, it feels cool.

Another fun game beaten and completed, Babushka's Glitch Dungeon. It's like $2 right now for a great short game. Highly recommended for secret hunters and GBC/NES pixel art fans.

I think most PC gamers don't know this, but wishlisting games on Steam actually directly helps developers!

After a certain point, more wishlists on a game means it gets recommended more on the Steam store, so basically wishlists have a snowball effect.

So wishlist as much as you can!

Finished playing another cool indie platformer, Bat to the Heavens. I can't remember the last time I looked up walkthrough videos for a game, but this one forced me to. Silksong was a little hard, but I recommend this one to true masochists only. Good game in a very evil way.

Introducing a new #plugin for #GBStudio- Talking Actors and Dialogue Prompt Actors!

It's great for adding flair to visual novels and cutscenes. Talking Actors animate when dialogue is being written, and Dialogue Prompt Actors animate when dialogue is waiting for a button press.

I'm trying to show off the new breakable wall mechanic but this little guy keeps shooting at me.

I've been playing Silksong so I am kind of addicted to breaking walls at the moment, needed to add it to my game.

For a custom aimed projectile with offset like this, all I need now is a set variable to value event. It used to take several events to get all the actor properties, or you could write it all out in GBVM which took forever.

Anyway, the game is coming along, but nothing is very presentable yet.

Currently hard at work building out the map. This is the tutorial area where you can practice your skills on some non-threatening slimes.

Emerge from the sewers and you end up in the island's main town...

Changed the melee attack to a slash, which is what I wanted it to be originally. I had to add directional sprites to projectiles first, which was a little tricky.

Also expanded the UI so you can have more health and ammo.

Working on more new areas. This is the sewer area which can be found beneath the central town.

I've also been hard at work on menus which are not so exciting. Still, I am excited to show them when they are all done.

Also the beginnings of a new area. I have most of the game planned out now! It's becoming real!

Also introducing the inventory menu. You can open it up to see your items any time during gameplay.

Today I added an outfit system. I had to make a bunny costume to test taller player sprites, I had no choice. Anyway, it will be in the game somewhere alongside a lot of other outfits.

Taking a break from combat to add some other systems to the game. This is a safe room where you can refill your health and ammo. The items are fun to spin around.

I was worried there wasn't enough feedback when you got hit, so I've taken care of that. Now it feels good to get hit, but you should still avoid it.

Made some new imps to shoot with your gun. Still figuring out what to do with the ammo system. I made it so "parrying" projectiles gives you ammo back.

Slowly making all the systems to make combat feel great. The blend of top down shooter and Zelda is really paying off, I can't wait for people to play this.

Your gun has ammo now, but don't worry- you can fill it back up by slapping enemies. It's a fun system when fighting more difficult enemies, I'll show them soon.

Also gave the backgrounds and UI a fresh coat of paint!

Making some goomba-type enemies. They can drop money and health.

Next week I will work on some more threatening enemies and try to cement what the combat feels like. Might slow down my updates a bit until I have a few ready!
