I think the Brits have a better general knowledge of the traditional basics, but the Canadians' finished products just look so professional. As the Aussie series went on, the bakers got better and it was their approach to flavours that shone- a more sophisticated/adventurous/international palate.

Adding to my list!

I found the Canadian bakers have been incredibly polished overall- even, dare I say it, more so than the British ones. The Australian version first season was hilariously amateur. If you want to see a man drop and then pick a half baked cake up with his bare hands and then shrug, like "Good enough!"

I figured it wasn't despite what the photo search suggested. There was a nifty little colony of Couscous Crust (Aegerita candida) on the next log over, funny enough.

What a beaut! Thank you for that clip. I am fascinated by slime molds. Just amazing how they operate. And a perfect photo bomb from a pretty beetle as bonus!

Was going to say. Looks absolutely terrified and/or unhinged.

Thank goodness for the storage capacity of modern phones. Why yes, I DO have 487 pictures of Fly agarics spanning the last 5 years. Totally normal thing to have, I swear.

Look at his very fetching white ear hairs. Just look at them!

Marcel, you have won the cat home lottery. You clearly deserve wonderful things, and oh boy, you are going to have such a great time.

What an extremely important point.
The city of Calgary now has stats that show just how effective fluoridated water is for dental health due to its removal (for political reasons) for several years a decade ago. Unfortunate it was at the expense of children's teeth.
Fluoridation cessation and children’s dental caries: A 7‐year follow‐up evaluation of Grade 2 schoolchildren in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada
We examined the effect of fluoridation cessation on children's dental caries experience in the Canadian cities of Calgary (cessation in 2011) and Edmonton (still fluoridated). We used a pre‐post cross‐sectional design with comparison group. We ...

I was intrigued as it seemed completely out of left field. I was expecting something along the lines of the current naming convention of "The Rise", "The Wild", etc, which, tbh, I am not fond of.
Not sure about the logo (it'll grow on me), but you're right, the animal itself is very cool- fierce!

Thank you so much for saying this. Genetics, poor maternal health, childhood nutritional issues, chronic health conditions, meds, stress can also contribute to poor dental health. Affordable dental care would absolutely contribute to better health outcomes overall, you're so right!

How delightful! All he has is complaints. He's never provided any solutions to all the problems he takes great delight in identifying. He seems to think he can just complain and someone else will fix it. No imagination, no practical experience and clearly absolutely no clue.

The Rescuers had a teddy bear hostage/blackmail situation that messed me up for years!
