I figured it wasn't despite what the photo search suggested. There was a nifty little colony of Couscous Crust (Aegerita candida) on the next log over, funny enough.

Can anyone help with id? A fungus parasitizing another fungus. PNW. Hardwood log. The parasitized fungus is Lumpy Bracket (Trametes gibbosa). Other fungus growing on it is dry and hard to the touch, so not a slime mold?

Best time of year. The dogs get bored waiting for me to take eleventy jillion photos of all the mushrooms, slimes and lichens that suddenly appear.

Fly Agaric. A vibrantly red capped mushroom with white flecks and a white stem in a bed of brown fallen beech leaves. A slightly out of focus golden retriever in the background is sniffing some more red capped mushrooms. Some aply named Orange Peel Fungus, which looks exactly like someone dropped some orange peels on the ground, is growing in a bed of wet woodchips and grass. Neither of my two are fans of costumes, but did pose nicely "for grandma" in front of our pumpkins before being tucked away inside before the fireworks start.

Our guy plays Smell My Bum with the dogs. He'll drift by a dog, stop dramatically, drape his tail across their nose and position himself perfectly for a sniff. Then when they oblige, he blasts off like a rocket, triggering their play drive. Then they chase him til he loses interest and sits up high.

Very sad black and white English setter puppy with pink swollen muzzle because he actually managed to catch a bee. He was given Benadryl and tucked up with a blankie to sleep it off and was absolutely fine within the hour. We love our American neighbours and really hope you all can work it out instead of having to contemplate joining another country entirely. The US deserves to thrive as itself despite the despotic attempts to dismantle everything even remotely good.

I was JUST going to ask about that! Up here in Vancouver it's been torrential all day. I have gone through 8 towels trying to dry my two after trips outside. One hasn't noticed the rain, the other one is a terrible wimp had to be dragged reluctantly out the door this morning despite a full bladder

Gorgeous! Aren't they lovely- such sweet expressions.
We've got a single large speckled son. I would love to have another, but are limited to only 2 dogs (have a merry golden too). I've never encountered a more sensitive, dramatic and ridiculous dog. Always had goldens, but setters are "different".

My two- the setter is now a venerable 5 yo and his younger sister is repeating the cycle of younger pain in the ass deviling the older dog.
