As in 2022, there will be no community council elections in Shetland this year due to a lack of nominations. Only one CC - Skerries - had been able to fill all its seats.

Orkney MSP and Scottish Parliament Deputy Presiding Officer, Liam McArthur (Liberal Democrat), has been named "MSP of the Year" in the Holyrood Magazine's annual awards.
