Sam Smith was a lot of fun - what a voice! And shimmy!
Sam Smith in concert, at Spark Arena, Auckland. Sam is wearing a very sparkly and warm dress, and can be seen extra life size on a screen, and regular life size on a platform on the stage. The crowd on the floor and sides of the arena also sparkle if lit phone lights in the air.

Now twice baked.

I was too impatient to wait for it to cool before slicing for the second bake, but the worst consequence is crumbled edges of almond biscotti to eat and sprinkle on things, and I will happily live with that!
A tray of golden almond biscotti, now twice baked. The pieces are jagged, because they were cut before they were cool from the first bake.

Making biscotti on a night when it is already warm inside, and I need to keep the window closed because of fireworks and cat.

Not my finest idea, but at least I’ll have biscotti for breakfast! Now I have to wait for it to cool at little before baking the slices.

These ghosts are gloomier.

I haven’t done any painting while I’ve been feeling sick, but today I felt like playing around a little.

The ghosts are mostly happy to be here.

Yesterday I pulled out my watercolour pencils and drew and washed quite a lot of tiny circles.
A piece of watercolour paper is filled with touching circles of rainbow colours, some circles outlined and filled with a light wash, and others more solid.

I do enjoy a disco ball, and Rex Orange County had six tonight.

I’ve still been doing a little painting each day, often at the end of very long days.

Today I attempted to paint (and refine with soft pastel pencils) Douglas. I am happy it at least looks like a cat.

Tonight I just painted swatches, and then doodled a little on top of them.
Swatches of watercolour on a A5 piece of paper, and a small bookmark sized bit. The swatches are in different bright colours, and on each is drawn in black ink simplistic flowers and leaves.

No flowers for today’s lunchtime painting, just a colourful experiment with watercolour, and different amounts of water, on a new hot pressed cotton paper.
A painting exercise, featuring circles of different hues and values on white paper. The circles touched while the watercolour paint was still wet, causing the contrasting colours to blend and bloom at their connections. The same circles, now all dry. Some circles are lighter, some blooms if colour gently blended, others with harsher lines, depending on hue, and how much water I used.
